School spirited and committed in his academic, sport, and social life, junior Brian Murphy always seems to be on top of things. After participating in high school track and achieving “All-American” status twice, he excitedly joined Ferris’ track team. Brian has been on the varsity team since freshman year. He works as the unofficial “sprint group” captain, organizes and volunteers at event,s and works with the coach to ensure everyone and everything is in order. When he’s not running or helping out with track events, he’s working hard to earn his accounting degree. Brian recently had an interview at a three day convention, where one hundred recruits were selected to be critiqued while at work. After the convention was over, the once-large group of students was narrowed down to a smaller size of twelve. Brian was one of the remaining students, and was offered a summer internship at Plante Moran, the nation’s 11th largest certified public accounting and business advisory firm. After passing the CPA exam and achieving is master’s degree at schools in either New York or Chicago, he plans to become a certified public accountant. Even with a busy a schedule, Brian still remains close with friends, and enjoys being involved with local community projects like Project Linus. For Project Linus, he assisted in making fleece blanks for terminally ill patients. Brian is able to balance a team sport, his social life, charity, his studies, and the Honors Program- something all Honors students should aim to accomplish!
