Get ready, the 2015 Honors Variety Show is coming up quick!
The show starts at 7 p.m. on Nov. 12 in the University Center 202 A&B. This year, there will be emcees to keep things lively and you’ll have the opportunity to win prizes donated by local businesses just through audience participation. So get a group together, get ready to see your fellow Ferris students show off their talents, win some prizes, and have a great time!
The Honors Programming Board (HPB) hosts the Variety Show every year. This year, HPB president Evan Kleikamp is in charge of planning the show. He got involved with the HPB four years ago as a freshman and hasn’t looked back since.
“The past few years have been really successful, and I am looking forward to helping Our Brother’s Keeper with our donations,” he said.
Students voting on their favorite acts make the donations. At past shows, there have been musical acts, poets, improv acts, hoola hooping, and comedians.
The donations from the votes are then given to Our Brother’s Keeper, a homeless shelter in Big Rapids.
Started in 2012, Our Brother’s Keeper’s mission is “to provide safe, faith based, short-term shelter for those in need in Mecosta and adjacent counties through volunteers and community support.”
“I’m hoping that this year will be the most successful year yet,” Evan said. “Students should come support their fellow Ferris students and Our Brother’s Keeper.”
Last year the show was able to raise $120 and $180 the year before.
So get your friends together and get to the UC on Nov. 12 to see some talent and help out our community!
