The 30 Hour Famine: Service Opportunity for Ferris Students

Do you want 23 service hours? All you have to do is not eat for 30 hours!

Ferris will be holding a 30 Hour Famine from Nov. 13 and Nov. 14. This event is hosted through World Vision, an advocacy organization that fights global poverty and injustice, and is open to all Ferris students for participation.

To contribute to the 30 Hour Famine, students will be required to fast for 30 hours starting at 11:00 a.m. on Friday. Volunteers can resume eating at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday.

“World Vision’s 30 Hours famine brings awareness to world hunger and raises funds to help rid of this global issue,”  Ferris Honors student O’Malley Bosanic said. “Our 30 Hour Famine benefits the people of Big Rapids as we collect nonperishable food items that will be donated to a local food pantry.”

Volunteers will also raise $35 while participating in this event. The funds raised through the 30 Hour Famine will be donated to children and families in the country with the greatest need for food. Ferris has raised $22,000 since 2005 and participation in the 30 Hour Famine has only increased since then.

Ferris students who wish to take advantage of this opportunity can register through the online portal located on the “FSU 30 Hour Famine” Facebook page in the “About” section. Students must be logged into their active FSU email to register.

Good luck and happy fasting!
